During Global Loneliness Awareness Week, L’Arche will be premiering their feature film: “On Loneliness.” Built from 18+ hours of conversations about friendship and loneliness, it explores loneliness as both a personal and public crisis, and offers a different way of living beyond social isolation–one filled with deep friendships.
Our OSG community will be attending a special pre-launch screening of the film in Arlington, followed by a Q&A with folks involved in the film. What a treat!
Meet up: If you would like to walk to the venue together, you can meet Community Builder Josue no later than 2:45pm outside Gilliam Place (on Lincoln Street). We cannot wait for latecomers! If you prefer, you can also meet us directly at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse. Doors will open at 3pm, and the screening will start at 3:30pm.
To prepare: This is a ticketed event hosted by L’Arche, so you need to reserve a ticket for each person attending the event HERE. Tickets are pay-as-you-wish, meaning that you can decide how much you are able and willing to pay to support this film project. Also, please RSVP with OSG below so we know to expect you!
Parking: Parking is available, but limited, directly behind the Arlington Drafthouse, and along Columbia Pike. If you are comfortable with a 0.4 mile walk, then there is also free street parking available near Gilliam Place Apartments (on Lincoln Street, facing the single family homes).
Contact: We will communicate changes of plans via Whatsapp, so please join the OSG Events Whatsapp group to receive important event updates.
Weather Cancellation: In case of unsafe weather conditions, an announcement will be made on Whatsapp at least 2 hours prior to the start of the outdoor event.
Accommodations: At OSG, our staff are not direct service providers, so we ask that each participant attending an event brings any personal support they may need for their well-being and engagement. This may include, but is not limited to, caregivers, communication partners, or mobility aids. That said, with prior notice, we can arrange group-wide accommodations during event planning. These might include ensuring wheelchair-accessible routes or selecting allergen-safe menus. Additional accommodations are available upon request, though they may not be listed here. To discuss your specific needs and help us make our events more inclusive, please contact us at claudet@ourstompingground.org with the subject line “Accommodation Request.”
*Note: Sign-up is mandatory. Be sure to RSVP so we know to expect you.
