Gilliam Place
Life at Gilliam Place is opening up a bit as COVID numbers in Arlington are receding. We continue with our daily morning and afternoon walks and are excited to welcome our new friend and neighbor, Paul, who joined us this month (read more about Paul here). These walks are a great opportunity to see our neighborhood, keep our local environment clean by picking up trash, and make some new friends. Please let us know any time you can join us, we really enjoy having new friends on the walk. We recently embarked on a new partnership with Eco Arlington and Energy Masters, and started off with an event discussing the importance of reducing our use and consumption of bottled water. In April we’re moving onto composting, single use plastic reduction in May and finally, water conservation in June. Learn more about this event here.
Another promising partnership we’ve begun is with Bike Arlington. Their stand has moved across the street, and we are encouraging all of the residents in Gilliam Place to sign up for a $5 annual membership. This will allow OSG residents to explore Arlington at their leisure and use the bikes as transportation. Please join us for the ribbon cutting early in May (details to come).
We’re particularly excited by our recent focus on wellness and learning together.
We continue to work with the Arlington County Library and are on a mission to get all our neighbors signed up for library cards for our monthly visits to Columbia Pike Library. In February we launched adaptive yoga with Ania Sowińska and have enjoyed practicing mindfulness with our friends. Click here to learn more and/or sign up.
Lastly, coming up in June we plan to re-launch our Drumming Circle with Abby, the Music Director of Arlington Presbyterian Church. This was a huge hit last year and we hope to see new faces this time around for some therapeutic drumming.

Queens Court
If you haven’t come out to an event at our second property, we hope you will join us soon. Our friends are settling into their apartments and have been great hosts for some of our new events.
Every first Wednesday of the month we have our Reading Circle, where we enjoy reading books from our local library, followed by our Rosslyn Dinner Club at a neighboring restaurant chosen by the group. Together we plan to check out all of the local dining options and indulge our inner foodies!
Another monthly get-together is our well-loved Movie Night, which will typically occur the last Friday of the month. We show a popular film in the Queens Court Community room – a beautiful space with unbelievable views of Rosslyn and DC and the perfect place to act as our own personal cinema. In March we hosted our first Movie Night featuring Star Wars, A New Hope. It was a hit and we can’t wait for the next scheduled April 29th. What do you think we should watch? The Waypoint
Our new neighbors at the Fairlington Presbyterian Church are anxious to have us move in and start making community. They’ve been hosting our virtual Bingo Night and environmental cleanups around the building. We can’t wait to launch weekend walks over to Fort Ward Park and are hearing great things about the new diner at the neighboring Bradlee Shopping Center! The building is really coming along and OSG is excited for our friends to move in this summer. Jeannie Cummins, our Regional Housing Specialist from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health, is going to host her quarterly Meet and Greet on site at the Waypoint on May 2nd, so if you’d like to see the community with your own eyes, make sure to be in attendance. We’ll share more soon and hope to see you there.
