Hi, my name is Andrew. I am 29 and I am big into martial arts. I like to practice karate and I am looking into studying jiujitsu. I have a black belt in Tai Kwan Do. I have many favorite foods. I can’t name them all, but I like pizza, lobster, fried turkey at Thanksgiving time, and I like apple pie.
Sometimes I like to work out. My goal is to get into better shape. I am involved with Special Olympics regularly. The winter season is starting up soon. I am going to do basketball, cross country skiing and maybe floor hockey. During the other seasons I do soccer, bowling, and track. In the summer I like to go to GOBA. GOBA is The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure. I go with my Special Olympics team and we ride and camp out for a week. We rode about 350 miles last year. I also accomplished the Century which meant I rode 100 miles in one day.
I love to work at Greensprings Retirement Community because the people there consider me a hard worker. I have received two awards and the residents nominated me for another award. It is so much fun working with the residents. I get to listen to stories about World War II. I like talking with the residents because I learn a lot from them. I also like to help roll them around and serve them food. It makes me happy to make them happy. My bosses are very supportive. They help me to be the best I can be. They help me to do my job right and they challenge me by giving me harder tasks which I am willing to learn. Right now I am learning how to wait tables.
My other jobs are to run out food, push walkers, bus the tables, and restock sodas in the morning because nobody wants a warm soda. Sometimes I help with the utilities group by washing dishes. I want to learn as much as I can there and so I like to help wherever they need it.
Cory Young, the General Manager for the Fireside and Potomac Café at Greensprings reports that “Andrew Laverdiere has been working in the Fireside dining room since December of 2016. Andrew’s job duties include serving the residents at our dessert bar, helping bus and reset tables in the dining room and also running out food orders from our kitchen. Throughout his time here, Andrew has developed great relationships with our residents and staff. He is well known for his hard work and great customer service. This past month, Andrew was honored as our Employee of the Month. This is a dining room employee recognition program. In addition to being an Employee of the Month, Andrew was also nominated by our residents for our Elite Award, a community-wide recognition program. Andrew continues to grow and learn new job skills and we are so happy to have him as a part of our team.”
