Events Calendar

Our Stomping Ground offers a variety of programs including book clubs, games nights, art and fitness classes and more. We are always adding new events. Be sure to explore our calendar and register for those programs that are of interest. Some events are open to just residents of a specific community, some are open to residents and Friends of OSG, and others are open to anyone in the Northern VA area.

T.G.I.F! Let’s start the weekend on a relaxing note with a virtual yoga class hosted monthly by Pathfinders Autism and Child’s Heart Yoga.

Registration: Since this event isn’t hosted by OSG, please register HERE. You only need to register once to sign up for the whole series and have access to each monthly session.

To prepare: Be sure you have access to a computer and a comfortable space to move your body. Wearing comfortable clothing is encouraged.

Meet up: This is a virtual event so we will meet over Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to your email inbox after you register for the event.

Join our Queens Court community for a walking tour through the historic and picturesque neighborhood of Georgetown. We’ll also stop by Bitty & Beau’s, which is a coffee shop run by people with disabilities!

To prepare: This activity lasts a couple of hours, so please wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water and a small snack as needed. Be sure to bring a form of payment if you’d like to purchase something from Bitty & Beau’s. You can also check out their menu here.

Meet up: We will meet in the Queens Court lobby at 10AM before heading out for our walk. If you arrive late, please message the Queens Court Whatsapp group to determine where we currently are.

Join our Queens Court community to visit the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington D.C. and explore a diverse series of historical and modern exhibits!

Meetup: Our walking group will head out from Queens Court at 10am and take the blue/orange/silver metro line together from the Rosslyn metro station to the Smithsonian metro station near the museum. If you are going to meet us directly at the museum, then plan to arrive by 11am. Please note that public parking is limited in downtown DC, so using public transport or ride share is advised.

To prepare: Please review the following information carefully.

-Attire: Everyone is encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.

-Museum entrance: Entering this museum is free and does not require additional registration after you RSVP with OSG.

-Public transport: If you’re taking the metro, please remember to bring your SmarTrip Card, or your Metro Access Card and a government id. Alternatively, you can bring cash/debit/credit card and purchase a roundtrip pass.

-Food/drink: You may want to bring a water bottle and a snack in a closed container.

Join our Queens Court community for a trip to the Longbridge Aquatics and Fitness Center! You’ll have the option of exploring the pool and/or gym, depending on your preferences.

Meetup: Our walking group will head out from Queens Court at 10am and take the blue metro line together from the Rosslyn metro station to the Crystal City metro station near Longbridge. If you’d like to meet us directly at Longbridge, then plan to arrive after 11:00am. There is metered parking available.

To prepare: Please review the following information carefully.

– Attire: Everyone is encouraged to dress appropriately for the activities you want to participate in. People going to the fitness room should wear sneakers and comfortable, athletic clothing. People going to the pool should bring your bathing suit, sandals, and a towel.

-Entrance fee: If you don’t already have a Longbridge membership, then you will need to purchase a daypass. Cash is recommended but you can also use a debit/credit card. The price is $9 for Arlington residents, and further information can be found here.

-Public transport: If you’re taking the metro, please remember to bring your SmarTrip Card, or your Metro Access Card and a government id. Alternatively, you can bring cash/debit/credit card and purchase a roundtrip pass.

To prepare: Wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a water bottle is advised.

Meet up: Please meet in the third floor club room at the Arden. A key is needed to enter the building, so please message the Arden Community Whatsapp group upon arrival if you’re not an Arden resident, so you can be let in.

Parking: Limited free parking is available in the Arden garages, but a parking pass is required. Please email annae@ourstompingground.org to reserve a parking pass in advance of this event. There is additional paid parking at the Huntington Metro Station nearby. Your vehicle is at a high risk of being towed if parked on the street!

Join a restorative, mat-based yoga session at the Ovation at Arrowbrook with certified yoga instructor, Garine. Beginners are welcome!

To prepare: Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one, but we also have mats for you to borrow. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.

Meet up: We’ll meet in the club room on the first floor of the Ovation. A key is needed to enter the building, so please message the Herndon Community Whatsapp group upon arrival if you’re not an Ovation resident, so you can be let in.
