Celebrate National Good Neighbor Day by volunteering to help bag and sort food with Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). Every week, AFAC distributes groceries to families in need in Arlington, VA. Together, we can be the good neighbors that everyone deserves!
RSVP Deadline: In order to provide AFAC with an accurate number of volunteers in advance of 9/28, we are only accepting RSVPs to participate in this event until Wednesday, 9/25. You must register early if you want to volunteer together!
Meet up: At 8:50 am, we will meet outside of the AFAC warehouse (2708 S Nelson St Arlington, VA 22206), specifically to the side of the loading dock. It’s important to be on time because we need our entire group to be present before we start our volunteering shift at 9am.
To prepare: Everyone MUST wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers are a great option). Please bring a hat or head covering and wear comfortable clothes; we also provide hairnets and gloves.
**We won’t know our specific volunteering task beforehand, but we will either be bagging produce, bagging and sealing dry goods, or sorting and checking donated food. A volunteer supervisor or staff member will give us detailed instructions once we arrive.**
Weather Cancellation: In case of unsafe weather conditions, an announcement will be made on Whatsapp at least 2 hours prior to the start of the in-person event.
Contact: We will communicate changes of plans via Whatsapp, so please join the OSG Events Whatsapp group to receive important event updates.
*Note: Sign-up is mandatory. Be sure to RSVP so we know to expect you.
