What could be a more perfect summer adventure than going out for ice cream with your friends? We’ll be taking the local bus together from Gilliam Place to Jake’s Ice Cream for a sweet treat. Jake’s Ice Cream is an artisanal shop that proudly employs many adults with disabilities, including some of our very own OSG Friends!

Meet up: If you’d like to ride the bus with our group, please meet us at Gilliam Place (918 S Lincoln St, Arlington, VA 22204) by 3pm so that we’re sure to catch the bus on time! We won’t be able to wait for anyone who is late. If you have your own transportation and want to meet us directly at Jake’s Ice Cream, then plan to arrive at the shop around 3:45pm.

To prepare: If you’re riding the bus, please bring at least $4 in cash or your SmarTrip card. If you qualify for the Reduced Fare program as a person with a disability or as a senior, be sure to carry a government id with you as well. Everyone planning to buy ice cream should bring their own payment method (cash, credit card, etc.).

Create in community through this group art therapy session! We will explore using various art mediums that will encourage self expression and creativity! The art mediums can range from fluid, such as watercolors and paints, to 3D sensory stimulating mediums, such as clay and sculpture materials.

Meet up: Please meet in the first floor community room at Gilliam Place

To prepare: Some protective materials and aprons will be available since the art supplies can be messy, but it is advised that you wear clothes you wouldn’t mind getting paint on and could possibly be stained.

*Note: Sign-up is mandatory and spots are limited. We will communicate any changes of plans via email or Whatsapp here.
