Events Calendar

Our Stomping Ground offers a variety of programs including book clubs, games nights, art and fitness classes and more. We are always adding new events. Be sure to explore our calendar and register for those programs that are of interest. Some events are open to just residents of a specific community, some are open to residents and Friends of OSG, and others are open to anyone in the Northern VA area.

Salmon

Join OSG in a shared experience where we’ll play various percussive instruments, express ourselves through music, and create some epic rhythm together. This event is led by our wonderful Gilliam Place partner, Arlington Presbyterian Church.

Meet up: We will meet outdoors in the garden outside Gilliam Place.

To prepare: Please make sure to RSVP so we know to expect you. Instruments will be provided so no need to bring anything but yourself and maybe a friend!

The Arc of Northern Virginia is partnering with Fairfax County public safety agencies to hold a Safety Fair for people with disabilities to interact with first responders and learn about other available safety resources. To prepare: This event is free, but you must register through the Arc of NOVA to attend.

Our OSG Arlington community is getting together on the first Wednesday of every month to enjoy dinner together. Each month, we’ll choose a spot near one of our Arlington properties. This month, we’re going to Ballston Quarter near the Cadence. All are welcome (no matter where you live)!

Meetup: Please meet at level C within Ballston Quarter at 5:30PM. This is a food court with several restaurants to order from. Everyone will order their own food from their restaurant of choice, and then we can sit and eat together in the dining hall.

To prepare: Please look at the restaurant options here if you’d like to plan where you want to order from. You are responsible for paying for your own order, so please remember to bring a form of payment!

IMPORTANT: There are limited spots for this event so you MUST RSVP with the total number of people you’re coming with in order to participate.

It’s another Bingo Night, so join us for a little friendly bingo competition and maybe win a prize!

Meet up: This is a hybrid event, meaning that we are meeting in the Waypoint community room (2451 Menokin Dr, Alexandria, VA 22302) AND via Zoom. You can pick either option based on what seems best for you!

IMPORTANT: There is a limit of 30 players for Bingo Night and we cannot exceed that. You MUST RSVP by Thursday, June 1st in order to recieve a Bingo card and participate. Virtual players will receive your Bingo card via email, and in-person players will recieve your Bingo card at the event.

OSG Friends, you’re invited to an epic afternoon of games galore! Join us to play board games, yard games, and even a fan-favorite video game: Mario Kart! Starting at 1:30pm, Mario Kart players can compete on the Nintendo Switch to win one of four prizes and take home a gift card. 

Meet up: This event will be taking place in the community spaces and courtyard at the Cadence. When you arrive, please message the OSG Events Whatsapp group to request access to the locked building.

To prepare: Thanks to the generosity of a volunteer team from Deloitte, the games and gaming equipment are being provided to us during this event, along with a boxed lunch for all registered participants. This is all free of charge, so you only need to submit your RSVP and then show up to play! 

Note about parking: Guest parking at the Cadence is limited, so carpooling and using rideshare or public transport is recommended. If you need to park your vehicle, please email claudet@ourstompingground.org in advance of the event for further details.

Our OSG Friends ages 21 and up are invited to OSG Nights– a series for adults to enjoy local nightlife as a crew. This time, we’re attending Happy Hour at Continental Pool Lounge. Join us for some brews, bites, and arcade games!

Meet up: We’ll meet directly at Continental Pool Lounge at 5:30pm.

To prepare: Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event, and their own payment for food, drinks, and games at the venue. Please view the menu and game rates beforehand if you like to plan ahead.

Our OSG Herndon community is getting together each month to enjoy dinner together. This month, we’re going to Taco Bamba. All are welcome (no matter where you live)!

Meet up: Please meet directly at Taco Bamba at 5:30PM. To prepare: Participants are responsible for your own transportation, so please plan accordingly.

Rememember to bring a payment method (debit/credit card or cash) for your dinner!

IMPORTANT: There are limited spots for this event so you MUST RSVP with the total number of people you’re coming with in order to participate. The seating at this restaurant is first come, first serve, and there is indoor and outdoor seating available on a variable basis.

Our OSG Alexandria community is getting together each month to enjoy dinner together. Each month, we’ll choose a restaurant near one of our Alexandria properties. This time, we’re going to Kyoto Sushi near the Waypoint. All are welcome (no matter where you live)!

Meet up: If you’d like to walk from the Waypoint together, please meet outside the apartment building at 5:15pm. Or, you can meet us directly at Kyoto Sushi at 5:30PM.

To prepare: Please remember to bring a form of payment!

If you arrive to the event without registering through OSG’s website, we cannot guarantee that the restaurant can seat you because we made a specific reservation.

Join us for the ArtStream Virginia Cabaret’s performance of “Princes! Princesses! & Popstars!” starring some of our very own OSG friends!

Meeting up: Since the show starts at 7:30pm, we will meet in the lobby of Signature Theatre at 7:10pm for anyone who wants to find seats nearby each other.

To prepare: Registering with OSG is not enough to attend this event. You MUST purchase tickets for the show directly from ArtStream’s website.

Learn to prepare easy, nutritious meals through a hands-on cooking class! We’ll make delicious dishes together, including lasagna zucchini boats, avocado toast, whole grain pasta, and black bean brownies.

This particular session is hosted by graduate interns from GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health as part of the Health Matters program. You are welcome to participate even if you aren’t a current Health Matters student.

Where: The Cadence (4333 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203); We’ll meet in the Community Room on the first floor
