Events Calendar

Our Stomping Ground offers a variety of programs including book clubs, games nights, art and fitness classes and more. We are always adding new events. Be sure to explore our calendar and register for those programs that are of interest. Some events are open to just residents of a specific community, some are open to residents and Friends of OSG, and others are open to anyone in the Northern VA area.

Learn to prepare easy, nutritious meals through a hands-on cooking class! We’ll make delicious dishes together, including lasagna zucchini boats, avocado toast, whole grain pasta, and black bean brownies.

This particular session is hosted by graduate interns from GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health as part of the Health Matters program. You are welcome to participate even if you aren’t a current Health Matters student.

Where: The Cadence (4333 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203); We’ll meet in the Community Room on the first floor

To prepare: This event is free and all necessary materials will be provided to you. It may be helpful to bring a pen/pencil to write with.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! You’re invited to a Potluck and Game Night at the Arden to celebrate the occasion with friends and neighbors. Where: Arden Community Room (3rd floor)

When: Please arrive as close to 6pm as possible and message the Whatsapp group so we can let you into the locked building.

To prepare: If you’d like to contribute to the festive meal, please sign up to bring an item off the menu. You’re also welcome to bring a board game to play!

Our OSG Arlington community is getting together on the first Wednesday of every month to enjoy dinner together. Each month, we’ll choose a restaurant near one of our Arlington properties. All are welcome (no matter where you live)!

Where: For this month’s outing, we’ll be going to District Taco (1500 Wilson Blvd, Arlington VA 22209) near Queens Court.

When: Please either meet at Queens Court at 5:15PM to walk over together OR meet directly at the restaurant at 5:30PM. If you’re attending the Walk to the Park event prior to this, then we’ll be walking over as a group from the park to the restaurant, and passing Queens Court on the way.

To prepare: You are responsible for paying for your own order, so please remember to bring a form of payment!

What: Create in community through group art therapy sessions every Friday afternoon! We will explore using various art mediums that will encourage self expression and creativity! The art mediums will range from fluid, such as watercolors and paints, to 3D sensory stimulating mediums, such as clay and sculpture materials.

IMPORTANT: Some protective materials and aprons will be available since the art supplies can be messy, but it is advised that you wear clothes you wouldn’t mind getting paint on and could possibly be stained.

Online dating can be a confusing and overwhelming experience, but it doesn’t have to be! Learn how to navigate online dating safely and successfully through this workshop created with autistic adults in mind. This introductory, in-person class will be led by a public health intern from George Washington University.

Where: Gilliam Place Community Room (918 S Lincoln St, Arlington, VA 22204)

When: 2-3pm; Please be on time to make the most of the learning experience

Who: Anyone who wants to gain confidence in the online dating world (you don’t have to be autistic!)

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month, the Stomping Zoomies Committee has planned to attend Sensory Day hosted by the McLean Community Center. All who attend will be provided “a sensory exploration through taste, smell, sound, sight, and touch.”

Where: The Old Firehouse (1440 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean, VA 22101)

When: Our group plans to attend between 12:30-2pm, but the entire event lasts from noon-4pm.

What: Join OSG and our Herndon community for a restaurant outing at Stone’s Cove Kitvbar. All are welcome! Check out the restaurant menu here.

When: We’ll meet directly at the restaurant at 5:30PM.

To prepare: Participants are responsible for your own transportation, so please plan accordingly. Rememember to bring a payment method (debit/credit card or cash) for your dinner!

The Arc of Northern Virginia is partnering with Arlington County public safety agencies to hold a Safety Fair for people with disabilities to interact with first responders and learn about other available safety resources. When: Saturday, April 15th from 11am-2pm

Where: In the parking lot at Kenmore Middle School (200 S Carlin Springs Road, Arlington VA 22204)

Where: For this month’s outing, we’ll be going to Abi Restaurant (5838 N Kings Hwy, Unit B, Alexandria, VA 22303) near the Arden.

When: Please meet us directly at the restaurant at 5:30PM.

IMPORTANT: There are limited spots for this event so you MUST RSVP with the total number of people you’re coming with in order to participate. If you arrive to the event without registering through OSG’s website, we cannot guarantee that the restaurant can seat you because we only made a reservation for 25 people.
