Calling all OSG Friends and Gilliam Place neighbors! There’s no school in Arlington County this afternoon, so we’re heading over to the Columbia Pike Library together to read, check out books, and sign up for library cards if you don’t have one. All are welcome (no matter where you live)!
Meet up: We’ll meet at 4pm in the lobby of Gilliam Place facing Lincoln Street and then walk together to the Columbia Pike Library as a group. If you prefer, you can also meet us directly at the library (816 S Walter Reed Dr, Arlington, VA 22204).

This week for our Social Justice Club, we’ll be celebrating Pride Month by exploring and discussing the Transgender Bill of Rights. This bill was recently reintroduced in Congress by Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts in order to establish federal protections for transgender Americans on the basis of gender non-discrimination.
To prepare: Before we meet on Zoom, please listen to this episode of TransLash with Imara Jones either on Apple Podcast or Spotify. It is titled, “Trans Bill of Rights.”
Additionally, feel free to check out the following resources to read main points of the bill as outlined by Senator Markey, and also learn more about the current National State of Emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans declared by the Human Rights Campaign.
