Events Calendar

Our Stomping Ground offers a variety of programs including book clubs, games nights, art and fitness classes and more. We are always adding new events. Be sure to explore our calendar and register for those programs that are of interest. Some events are open to just residents of a specific community, some are open to residents and Friends of OSG, and others are open to anyone in the Northern VA area.

OSG is celebrating the holiday season at the U.S. Botanic Garden! This year’s “Season’s Greenings” exhibit features thousands of poinsettias, D.C. landmarks made from plants inside the Conservatory, model trains in the outdoor gardens, and festive lights and decor throughout the Garden.

Meetup: At 10:30am, we will meet at the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory entrance on Maryland Avenue. Look out for the big glass dome! If you arrive late, please message the OSG Events Whatsapp group to find out where we are and catch up with the group. We cannot wait for latecomers.

Transportation: Street parking in downtown DC can be limited, so we recommend either using Uber/Lyft or taking the metro. The nearest metro stations to the Botanic Garden are L’Enfant Plaza (Yellow line) and Federal SW (Orange/Silver/Blue lines).

What to bring: Please review the following information carefully!

-Attire: Everyone is encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and dress warmly since we’ll be walking mostly outdoors.

-Food/drink: We highly recommend bringing a water bottle, as well as a snack.

-Public transport: If you’re taking the metro, remember to bring your SmarTrip Card, or your Metro Access Card and a government id. Alternatively, you can bring cash/debit/credit card and purchase a roundtrip pass.

Contact: Please direct questions about this event to the OSG Events Whatsapp group. This is where we will communicate important event updates and also stay in touch while in D.C.

Accommodations: At OSG, our staff are not direct service providers, so we ask that each participant attending an event brings any personal support they may need for their well-being and engagement. This may include, but is not limited to, caregivers, communication partners, or mobility aids. That said, with prior notice, we can arrange group-wide accommodations during event planning. These might include ensuring wheelchair-accessible routes or selecting allergen-safe menus. Additional accommodations are available upon request, though they may not be listed here. To discuss your specific needs and help us make our events more inclusive, please contact us at claudet@ourstompingground.org with the subject line “Accommodation Request.”

*Note: Sign-up is mandatory. Be sure to RSVP so we know to expect you.
